3D Graphics Software

3D Tools

3D Tools Shot
These applications were used in the process of 3D reconstruction of cities and industrial objects according to various input data sets (photometric data, building plans, topographic maps, drawings, height maps etc.)

The suite includes a number of data converters capable of transforming one format to another. For example, the program can take a 2D drawing of building as the input, and produce a 3D scene with a level of detail, appropriate textures etc.

Some of the supported formats include FLT, DXF, V3D, MSA, DFK, and DGN. Additionally, several data processors were developed, including landscape LOD builders and some more.

Tools & technologies used: Visual C++ 6.0, ATL/WTL, STL, Visual SourceSafe 6.0, Windows NT, 2000.

Advanced Drive Training System

Advanced Drive Training System Shot
This software was designed to provide a user with a realistic real-time environment to train his/her driving skills. The system implements a client/server architecture and comprises three chief modules, each responsible for a certain part of the functionality: Simulation Server, Visual Test client and Road Editor.

The Simulation Server incorporates the business logic, thus determining the vehicles’ behavior on the road. The vehicles can be either person- or machine-controlled. Apart from the Simulation Server, which manages the virtual vehicles, their behavior is additionally defined by the ‘aggressiveness factor’, which ranges from ‘very cautious’ to ‘very aggressive’. At every simulation stage the Server send the required calculations to the Visual Client, which converts the data into a real-time 3D presentation.

The Road Editor is used to create road models for the Simulation Server, including such road aspects as center lane, signs, intersections etc. A vehicle is always bound to a given road defined by the model data, which allows determining the vehicle’ position uniquely. Road models are stored in the industry-standard LandXML format.

Tools & technologies used: Visual C++ 6.0, gcc 2.95.2, TCP/IP, XML, OpenGL, Rational Rose, CVS, Visual SourceSafe 6.0.
